The view east into Illinois reveals a landscape scarred by decades of industrial collapse and abandonment. Former rail yards and loading docks are overgrown by trees, vast areas stand vacant, and enormous parking lots are almost the only recent construction. Of particular interest are the mile-long approaches to the MacArthur Bridge, which is visible at lower-right. Downtown East St. Louis is above and slightly right of the Casino Queen's red and yellow sign.
