The New Cathedral
Located on Lindell Boulevard in the Central West End, the New Cathedral is one of the city's most iconic buildings and probably its best-known church. It dates from 1907, but the vast collection of mosaics covering the interior was not completed until the 1980s. The building replaced the much smaller Old Cathedral which still survives downtown on the Arch grounds.

The interior is awe-inspiring in its enormity, and covered floor to ceiling with shimmering mosaic tile. This vast space is laced with smaller adjoining rooms and chapels; visitors can wander at length, discovering one space after the next.
