Trinity Lutheran
Architect: Charles F. May(?)
Located in the heart of Soulard, Trinity Lutheran was the first Lutheran church in the region, founded in 1839. It served as the city's Lutheran "mother church" for many years. The current building is yet another built in the wake of the 1896 tornado, which destroyed most of an 1865 structure on the site. The front wall and steeple remain; a Historic Photos link on the church's web site shows the aftermath of the devastation.

The building today is in immaculate condition, having undergone restoration in the 1980s. Services are offered once a month in German, reflecting the immigrant heritage of the church and its neighborhood.
