The Slow Death of 1900 Montgomery Street
|
2619 N. 19th Street
This little home, privately owned, sits at the east end of the block, along with its delapitated one-car garage. Built in 1909, it is disconnected from the patterns of those around it -- it is a single-family home, it lacks an attic, has a full, roofed porch, and unequally distributed windows. It suffered a fire and, like the rest of its block, is boarded up. It was last occupied in 2003; as of 2008, it is the last intact building on the block.
The concrete foundations of several other garages survived next to it until 2005, when they were removed along with 1902 Montgomery.
