December 2002: at 19th and North Market stands St. Liborius Church. A handsome brick Gothic building built in 1889, the placement of the church and its associated rectory create one of St. Louis's finest urban vistas. The church was closed in 1992; many of its furnishings were sold off. The rowhouses on the same block are in poor condition. Their presence was critical to maintaining the quality of the street.

Alas, it was not to be. The three center houses came down in May, 2005.
