916 Olive Street
("The Truman" Office Building - ?)
Built: 1926
Architect: unknown
The restrained Romanesque facade of this 4-story office building has been rather banally modernized at street level, but this blank slate of a facade has
itself been adorned with an enlivening neon sign -- not a remant of hat-selling days, but a portrait of a former President: "Truman in Neon", commissioned by then-owner Jack Randall in 1985. The sign remained when Downtown Urgent Care opened in the space in 2008; when LabCorp joined them after 2011, however, it came down.
The building is for sale by
CB Richard Ellis.
