Orpheum Theater
Later the American Theater
Later the Roberts Orpheum Theater
416 N. 9th Street
Built: 1918, as the Orpheum
Architect: C. Albert Lansburgh
Status: renovated in 2003 and in full use.
Downtown's most sumptuous (and voluptuous) Beaux Arts building. It was originally a vaudeville house, then a movie theater from the 1930s till the 1960s, then a concert venue. It is now renovated after a long period of declining use.
