The hills in this area provide a dramatic viewpoint for the two standpipe towers at Grand Avenue.

Grand Avenue is a heavy-traffic arterial road, and marks a dividing line between College Hill and the Bissell Hill area to the south.

The traffic circle surrounding the white watertower once was lined with commercial buildings; most of them are gone now, and the survivors continue to diminish.

May 2004: 7 buildings remain on this tattered stretch of East Grand.

November 2011: The building at the far right is gone (as seen below, it was undergoing demolition at the time). Nearly every storefront has changed; on the upper floors, some windows have been boarded up, while others have been uncovered.
