822 Washington Avenue

Renaissance St. Louis Grand & Suites Hotel
Originally: Statler Hotel
Later: Gateway Hotel
Architect: George Post, 1917

Built as part of the Statler chain, it was renovated into the Gateway Hotel in the 1960s. After a decade of vacancy, it is now in service again as part of the convention complex.

Read more on the Statler and its recent renovation at the Recalled to Life tour.

The "gap" on the map (in the 700/800 blocks) is filled by the Convention Center to the north, and by St. Louis Centre and the former Mercantile Bank tower and garage to the south.
